After install, I noticed there are some plugs that don't seem to plug in anywhere. Did I get the wrong harness?
No, it is normal to have plugs left over from your old stereo if upgrading to a Brummstadt head unit. The unit comes with its own components and antennas (GPS, 4G, microphone), so some factory plugs are simply not needed anymore. No need to worry. All core functions will work as intended. If anything doesn’t perform as expected, you can always reach out to our customer support by clicking here Chat with Human Support or send an email to service@brummstadt.com.au. -
Why isn't my factory camera working with your unit?
Our cables are made to work with factory cameras, but sometimes they just don't. Some cameras work straight out of the box. Others may need a 12V to 6V step-down module or a different plug. In any case, contact our support team. We will help you find the right solution. -
What if something doesn't work during install?
This is our promise to you. We stand not only for quality in product but also quality in after-sales support. While there may be many alternatives out there, the true value shows when it comes to replacements or product questions. We are here to help until everything works exactly as it should. -
Can I use the reverse camera while driving forward?
Yes, absolutely possible. If you only have the rear camera installed or are using your original factory camera, you can add a rocker switch to activate it while in drive. Just keep in mind that this is not plug and play and does require some basic wiring knowledge. A more convenient option is to use both our front and rear cameras, which are powered directly through the head unit. You can switch between them anytime, view both at once and even watch them while driving. This is especially useful for towing, caravans and off-road use. -
Can I install a front camera and view it anytime, even while driving?
Yes, absolutely. You can view both front and rear anytime, whether parked or driving. For more advanced setups, you can install multiple additional cameras using rocker switches or modified RCA inputs and switch between them freely. This requires high installation skill and is not plug and play, while with our front and rear camera setup it is plug and play. -
Do your units support steering wheel controls?
Yes, absolutely. Steering wheel buttons are supported. Sometimes they work immediately after installation. Sometimes you configure them in the steering wheel app on the head unit. The process is simple: press the icon on the screen, press the button on your steering wheel, and assign the function. You can map any function to any button. For vehicles with more advanced ECUs, we supply CANbus modules. In those cases, you just select your car model inside the CAN app and it will sync automatically. Should anything be unclear or if you need help with setup, feel free to Chat with Human Support or email us at service@brummstadt.com.au.

The Holden Barina, produced between 2011 and 2016 (TM Series), stands as the sixth and final generation of Holden's beloved compact hatchback series. Renowned in Australia for its spirited design, efficient urban performance, and engaging handling, the Barina was embraced by drivers seeking a reliable, stylish, and economically practical car.
Historical Journey of the Holden Barina:
First Generation - MB/ML Series (1985-1988)
The Barina debuted in Australia as a rebadged Suzuki Swift, quickly earning popularity for its compact dimensions, fuel economy, and affordability. Particularly favored by younger drivers, it set the stage for the model’s future successes.
Second Generation - MF/MH Series (1989-1994)
Adopting the European Opel Corsa as its foundation, this series introduced sleek European styling and improved comfort, winning acclaim for blending practicality with continental refinement.
Third Generation - SB Series (1994-2000)
Continuing the Opel lineage, the SB series enhanced the model’s agility and safety features, such as airbags and reinforced structures, solidifying its reputation for reliability and driver confidence.
Fourth Generation - XC Series (2001-2005)
With the XC series based on Opel’s Corsa C, the Barina reached new heights in comfort and build quality. Its refined ride, interior ergonomics, and increased safety features earned enduring appeal among urban commuters.
Fifth Generation - TK Series (2005-2011)
Holden's strategic shift to GM Daewoo’s platform (Chevrolet Aveo/Kalos) marked a new direction, emphasizing affordability and practicality. Despite initial skepticism, it maintained strong sales through its balance of price and performance.
Sixth Generation - TM Series (2011-2016)
This final generation, known globally as Chevrolet Sonic/Aveo, delivered marked improvements in safety, design, and driver enjoyment. Its expressive styling and dynamic stance set it apart, supported by a capable 1.6-liter petrol engine (85 kW, 114 hp) known for responsive urban driving and efficient highway cruising.
Holden Barina vs. Holden Barina Spark:
During this period, Holden also offered the smaller, city-oriented Barina Spark (MJ Series, 2010-2015), derived from the Chevrolet Spark. While both shared compact philosophies, notable distinctions defined their respective roles:
- Engine & Performance: The Barina TM’s robust 1.6-liter engine provided superior power and highway comfort compared to the Spark’s smaller 1.2-liter engine, designed predominantly for city use and economy.
- Size & Interior Space: The Barina TM was roomier, offering increased passenger comfort and cargo versatility, while the Spark prioritized ease of parking, compact dimensions, and agility in tight urban environments.
- Styling & Target Audience: Barina TM's bold, mature styling and refined interior targeted a broader demographic, whereas the Spark appealed to younger, budget-conscious drivers seeking youthful design and high urban maneuverability.
Brummstadt Head Unit Integration:
To fully realize the Barina TM's potential, an ideal companion is found in the specially designed head unit available from Brummstadt (https://www.brummstadt.com.au/). Precisely tailored for seamless integration within the Barina's interior, this head unit delivers:
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: Easy access to apps such as Google Maps, WAZE, and Spotify, improving convenience and navigation clarity.
- Scenario: Picture an enjoyable evening dinner with family; effortlessly, the driver pre-selects the destination on their smartphone. As soon as the journey begins, the route automatically displays via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on the Brummstadt unit, transforming the drive into a calm, intuitive experience.
- HD Camera Upgrade: Available front and rear 1080p HD cameras significantly improve visibility and safety, providing valuable visual evidence for peace of mind.
- Entertainment & Gaming: USB-connected gaming controllers enable passengers to enjoy multiplayer games on the integrated high-resolution display, creating shared moments of enjoyment during trips.
- Smart Voice Control: Voice commands simplify managing calls, music, navigation, and even smart home interactions ("Hey Siri, turn on the porch lights"), promoting convenience and enhanced safety.
Benefits and Driving Experience:
The Barina TM series delivers clear advantages over its predecessors and competitors such as the Barina Spark. With improved handling, enhanced ride quality, stronger performance, and advanced safety features like stability control and comprehensive airbags, drivers benefit from an elevated sense of control and security.
Choosing advanced multimedia and safety upgrades such as those provided by Brummstadt further transforms the driving experience, making daily commutes and longer trips more enjoyable, intuitive, and satisfying.
Reflecting on the Holden Barina's heritage, the TM series remains celebrated for balancing practicality, modern technology, and dynamic performance, embodying Holden's enduring commitment to quality compact motoring.
