    • After install, I noticed there are some plugs that don't seem to plug in anywhere. Did I get the wrong harness?
No, it is normal to have plugs left over from your old stereo if upgrading to a Brummstadt head unit. The unit comes with its own components and antennas (GPS, 4G, microphone), so some factory plugs are simply not needed anymore. No need to worry. All core functions will work as intended. If anything doesn’t perform as expected, you can always reach out to our customer support by clicking here Chat with Human Support or send an email to service@brummstadt.com.au.
    • Why isn't my factory camera working with your unit?
Our cables are made to work with factory cameras, but sometimes they just don't. Some cameras work straight out of the box. Others may need a 12V to 6V step-down module or a different plug. In any case, contact our support team. We will help you find the right solution.
    • What if something doesn't work during install?
This is our promise to you. We stand not only for quality in product but also quality in after-sales support. While there may be many alternatives out there, the true value shows when it comes to replacements or product questions. We are here to help until everything works exactly as it should.
    • Can I use the reverse camera while driving forward?
Yes, absolutely possible. If you only have the rear camera installed or are using your original factory camera, you can add a rocker switch to activate it while in drive. Just keep in mind that this is not plug and play and does require some basic wiring knowledge. A more convenient option is to use both our front and rear cameras, which are powered directly through the head unit. You can switch between them anytime, view both at once and even watch them while driving. This is especially useful for towing, caravans and off-road use.
    • Can I install a front camera and view it anytime, even while driving?
Yes, absolutely. You can view both front and rear anytime, whether parked or driving. For more advanced setups, you can install multiple additional cameras using rocker switches or modified RCA inputs and switch between them freely. This requires high installation skill and is not plug and play, while with our front and rear camera setup it is plug and play.
    • Do your units support steering wheel controls?
Yes, absolutely. Steering wheel buttons are supported. Sometimes they work immediately after installation. Sometimes you configure them in the steering wheel app on the head unit. The process is simple: press the icon on the screen, press the button on your steering wheel, and assign the function. You can map any function to any button. For vehicles with more advanced ECUs, we supply CANbus modules. In those cases, you just select your car model inside the CAN app and it will sync automatically. Should anything be unclear or if you need help with setup, feel free to Chat with Human Support or email us at service@brummstadt.com.au.

The Holden Barina Spark MJ Series (2010–2016)
The Holden Barina Spark, particularly the MJ series spanning from 2010 to 2016, distinctly represents a spirited and practical city-focused micro hatchback, popular among drivers who appreciate dynamic urban mobility. Globally known under several names and brandings—such as the Chevrolet Spark in North American markets, Opel Karl in Europe, and simply as the Holden Barina Spark across Australia and New Zealand—this lively hatchback carved its identity through agility, compact convenience, and approachable economy.

Legacy of the Holden Barina Lineage
The Holden Barina Spark MJ was not a continuation of the traditional Barina line, but a distinct addition to Holden’s city car offering. The Barina nameplate, however, has deep roots in Australia. For decades, Holden’s Barina models symbolized dependable practicality, affordability, and functional simplicity—perfect for first-time drivers and urban commuting. The broader lineage saw consistent updates to match changing driver needs.

    First Generation – Suzuki-based MB Barina (1985–1988)
The original Barina, based on the Suzuki Cultus, was praised for its compact dimensions and fuel efficiency, making it a go-to option for entry-level city driving.

Second Generation – MF and MH (1989–1994)
These continued the Suzuki lineage with refinements in space and ride comfort, while maintaining affordability and light handling.

    Third Generation – Opel-based SB Barina (1994–2000)
Sourced from the Opel Corsa, the SB Barina introduced European build quality, better driving dynamics, and modern styling—a shift that resonated strongly with Australian buyers.

Fourth and Fifth Generations – XC (2001–2005) and TK Barina (2005–2011)
The XC, still Opel-based, offered further refinement. In 2005, the TK Barina (Daewoo Kalos) shifted focus to cost-efficiency and broader accessibility, making it a leader in the entry-level segment.

    Holden Barina Spark MJ (2010–2016)
Launched alongside the TK Barina but positioned separately, the Barina Spark MJ was smaller, lighter, and designed for urban agility. Featuring bold, youthful styling, the Spark embraced expressive design, tight handling, and a high-revving 1.2L inline-four engine. It quickly gained popularity for its vibrant character, nimbleness in tight spaces, and practical interior layout—including its iconic motorbike-inspired instrument cluster.

    Characteristic Benefits and Advantages
The Holden Barina Spark MJ gained recognition for:
    - Sharp and responsive handling tailored to urban streets
    - Fuel efficiency ideal for stop-start traffic and daily commutes
    - Compact exterior dimensions with surprisingly generous interior space
    - Distinctive design language appealing to younger and style-conscious drivers
    - Low ownership costs and a reputation for dependability

    Technology Limitations and Modern Solutions
Like many micro cars of its time, the Spark MJ came with limited factory tech. While some variants included USB, AUX, and basic Bluetooth, there was no touchscreen, CarPlay, or Android Auto. However, this limitation is easily addressed with aftermarket infotainment upgrades.

    Aftermarket Infotainment Improvements
Modern head units compatible with the Spark MJ offer transformative benefits:
    - Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for navigation and media
    - Hands-free calling and voice assistant integration
    - Streaming access to music, podcasts, and messaging apps
    - Rear-view camera compatibility and steering wheel control retention
    - OEM-style fitment to maintain dashboard harmony

These upgrades bring the Spark MJ into the modern era, enhancing convenience and safety during daily commutes.

    Superior Driving and Ownership Satisfaction
When paired with today’s infotainment options, the Barina Spark MJ transforms into a feature-rich, city-focused companion. Its blend of youthful energy, tight control, and improved tech functionality aligns perfectly with the needs of modern drivers who demand more from their compact car. The result is a more personalised, enjoyable, and tech-connected urban driving experience.

“A car is not just a tool — it’s an experience waiting to happen.”
    – Ken Block, World-renowned rally driver and viral motorsport icon
