After install, I noticed there are some plugs that don't seem to plug in anywhere. Did I get the wrong harness?
No, it is normal to have plugs left over from your old stereo if upgrading to a Brummstadt head unit. The unit comes with its own components and antennas (GPS, 4G, microphone), so some factory plugs are simply not needed anymore. No need to worry. All core functions will work as intended. If anything doesn’t perform as expected, you can always reach out to our customer support by clicking here Chat with Human Support or send an email to service@brummstadt.com.au. -
Why isn't my factory camera working with your unit?
Our cables are made to work with factory cameras, but sometimes they just don't. Some cameras work straight out of the box. Others may need a 12V to 6V step-down module or a different plug. In any case, contact our support team. We will help you find the right solution. -
What if something doesn't work during install?
This is our promise to you. We stand not only for quality in product but also quality in after-sales support. While there may be many alternatives out there, the true value shows when it comes to replacements or product questions. We are here to help until everything works exactly as it should. -
Can I use the reverse camera while driving forward?
Yes, absolutely possible. If you only have the rear camera installed or are using your original factory camera, you can add a rocker switch to activate it while in drive. Just keep in mind that this is not plug and play and does require some basic wiring knowledge. A more convenient option is to use both our front and rear cameras, which are powered directly through the head unit. You can switch between them anytime, view both at once and even watch them while driving. This is especially useful for towing, caravans and off-road use. -
Can I install a front camera and view it anytime, even while driving?
Yes, absolutely. You can view both front and rear anytime, whether parked or driving. For more advanced setups, you can install multiple additional cameras using rocker switches or modified RCA inputs and switch between them freely. This requires high installation skill and is not plug and play, while with our front and rear camera setup it is plug and play. -
Do your units support steering wheel controls?
Yes, absolutely. Steering wheel buttons are supported. Sometimes they work immediately after installation. Sometimes you configure them in the steering wheel app on the head unit. The process is simple: press the icon on the screen, press the button on your steering wheel, and assign the function. You can map any function to any button. For vehicles with more advanced ECUs, we supply CANbus modules. In those cases, you just select your car model inside the CAN app and it will sync automatically. Should anything be unclear or if you need help with setup, feel free to Chat with Human Support or email us at service@brummstadt.com.au.

A Historical Overview of Subaru Liberty (Legacy):
First Generation (1989–1993):
The initial Subaru Liberty—known widely outside Australia as the Legacy—debuted as a fresh competitor within the midsize sedan and wagon segments. With Subaru's renowned symmetrical all-wheel-drive at its heart, the car swiftly garnered admiration for delivering stable handling, impressive traction in adverse conditions, and balanced design practicality. Equipped with robust boxer engines, the first Liberty provided an appealing point of differentiation from traditional sedans and wagons, especially in North America, Australia, Europe, and Japan. Its motorsport-bred rally heritage further raised public profile, enhancing consumer appeal.
Second Generation (1994–1998):
Subaru refined the Liberty progressively through improved exterior styling, enhancing cabin comfort, and critical safety upgrades. Engine technology, chassis rigidity, and suspension tuning evolved, ensuring the Liberty became respected across North American and Australian markets for dependability and pleasant driving dynamics. Distinctively, special editions like the Liberty RS and GT garnered popularity, combining everyday usability with spirited turbocharged engine choices. Appreciated by those valuing subtle performance, off-road capability, and reliability, this generation marked further consolidation for Subaru globally.
Third Generation (1999–2003):
This period represented essential maturity in Subaru's design language and engineering advancements. Liberty adopted more upscale interior materials and significantly improved ergonomics and occupant comfort. In Japan, higher-performance B4 models and wagons resonated strongly, equipped with alternative turbocharged engines, advanced electronic stability control, and improved suspension geometry. The shift towards a refined, smoother, and more premium ownership experience highlighted Subaru’s intention to elevate the Liberty globally. Australians and North Americans particularly appreciated purposeful practicality coupled with improved interior finish and reliable AWD confidence as defining features.
Fourth Generation (2003–2009):
A significant transformation occurred with the fourth-generation Liberty range, drawing extensively upon Subaru's engineering and aesthetic refinements. Streamlined modernisation led the vehicle toward a more elegant shape, complemented by thoughtfully minimised interior noise and enhanced occupant comfort. Offered as both sedan and wagon body styles across markets—Australia's Liberty name continued, while it remained called Legacy in North America, Europe, and Japan—the vehicle gained strong traction internationally. Recognised for its responsive driving dynamics and commendable body rigidity, thanks to the boxer engines combined with symmetrical AWD and sophisticated chassis engineering, it encapsulated Subaru's heritage effectively. Turbocharged GT and B4 variants maintained spirited performance, attracting driving enthusiasts desiring dynamic capability with unobtrusive styling.
Fifth Generation and Beyond (2010 onward):
Subsequent generations witnessed continuing enhancements advancing technology, performance, safety, and refinement. Continuous AWD reliability and boxer engine dependability retained owner loyalty. While more substantial and more luxurious touches appear, enthusiasts still recall the fourth generation warmly for blending performance, affordability, practicality, and approachable technological sophistication in a harmoniously balanced package.

Enhanced visual assistance contributes significantly to the everyday practicality of parking and maneuvering, while camera recordings instill tangible security and enhanced peace-of-mind in various driving environments.
Entertainment possibilities extend impressively, as gaming controllers connecting via USB ports bring together family or friends for entertaining multiplayer game sessions right within the vehicle, making extended journeys both memorable and engaging.
Further complementing functionality, the unit’s advanced voice interaction capability smoothly orchestrates navigation, communication, and media controls hands-free. Demonstrating smart home integration, voice commands, like requesting voice assistants to prompt home devices—such as switching on porch lights before arrival—reinforce thoughtful technology integration that delivers remarkable convenience.
Benefits and Advantages of the Fourth Generation Subaru Liberty (Legacy):
The heritage of the fourth-generation Liberty is noticeably enriched within its balanced characteristics. Subaru's dependable boxer engines combined with the symmetrical AWD system consistently offer secure road handling, practical capability, and refined comfort. Occupant satisfaction arises from the thoughtful interior ergonomics, precise engineering, and appreciable refinement shifts adopted over preceding generations. Spirited performance-oriented versions, such as dedicated GT or B4 variants, provided accessible performance without sacrificing everyday function, creating well-earned reputations among performance-focused drivers.
Upgrades to infotainment and supporting technology systems align the Liberty more closely with contemporary expectations, further uplifting interior ambience and functionality. While retaining classic elegance, incorporating modern infotainment supports practical user-friendliness, streamlined communication, enjoyable travel, and valuable navigation assistance, fostering a more satisfying, rewarding driving atmosphere.
