    • After install, I noticed there are some plugs that don't seem to plug in anywhere. Did I get the wrong harness?
No, it is normal to have plugs left over from your old stereo if upgrading to a Brummstadt head unit. The unit comes with its own components and antennas (GPS, 4G, microphone), so some factory plugs are simply not needed anymore. No need to worry. All core functions will work as intended. If anything doesn’t perform as expected, you can always reach out to our customer support by clicking here Chat with Human Support or send an email to service@brummstadt.com.au.
    • Why isn't my factory camera working with your unit?
Our cables are made to work with factory cameras, but sometimes they just don't. Some cameras work straight out of the box. Others may need a 12V to 6V step-down module or a different plug. In any case, contact our support team. We will help you find the right solution.
    • What if something doesn't work during install?
This is our promise to you. We stand not only for quality in product but also quality in after-sales support. While there may be many alternatives out there, the true value shows when it comes to replacements or product questions. We are here to help until everything works exactly as it should.
    • Can I use the reverse camera while driving forward?
Yes, absolutely possible. If you only have the rear camera installed or are using your original factory camera, you can add a rocker switch to activate it while in drive. Just keep in mind that this is not plug and play and does require some basic wiring knowledge. A more convenient option is to use both our front and rear cameras, which are powered directly through the head unit. You can switch between them anytime, view both at once and even watch them while driving. This is especially useful for towing, caravans and off-road use.
    • Can I install a front camera and view it anytime, even while driving?
Yes, absolutely. You can view both front and rear anytime, whether parked or driving. For more advanced setups, you can install multiple additional cameras using rocker switches or modified RCA inputs and switch between them freely. This requires high installation skill and is not plug and play, while with our front and rear camera setup it is plug and play.
    • Do your units support steering wheel controls?
Yes, absolutely. Steering wheel buttons are supported. Sometimes they work immediately after installation. Sometimes you configure them in the steering wheel app on the head unit. The process is simple: press the icon on the screen, press the button on your steering wheel, and assign the function. You can map any function to any button. For vehicles with more advanced ECUs, we supply CANbus modules. In those cases, you just select your car model inside the CAN app and it will sync automatically. Should anything be unclear or if you need help with setup, feel free to Chat with Human Support or email us at service@brummstadt.com.au.

The Audi A3—initially launched as a gateway to premium compact motoring—has progressively become one of the most dependable models in Audi's global portfolio, establishing itself through meticulous engineering, timeless styling, and practical performance. As we explore the second-generation A3, marketed globally from approximately 2003 through to 2012, it's worthwhile first understanding the roots that gave birth to a model that would garner acclaim among drivers across all continents.

Historical Context of the Audi A3:

    First Generation Audi A3 – Typ 8L (1996–2003):
Audi introduced its premium compact model, the Audi A3, in 1996, riding on the Volkswagen Group's A platform. Known internally as the Typ 8L, this initial generation firmly established the A3 as a pivotal model: compact yet refined, effortlessly blending accessible luxury, practical design, and reliable German performance into a versatile hatchback format. Well-appointed interiors, composed road handling, and powerful yet balanced engines—most notably the turbocharged 1.8T petrol motor—quickly attracted broad attention in Europe and beyond, including markets like Australia, where compact, well-built luxury hatchbacks began rapidly gaining popularity.

    Second Generation Audi A3 – Typ 8P (2003–2012):
Audi notably expanded on the initial vision of the A3 with its second generation, identified as Typ 8P. Launched at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show and built upon the refined Volkswagen Group PQ35 platform, the Audi A3 8P exemplified greater maturity and sophistication. With more pronounced styling accents reminiscent of larger Audi sedans—such as the Singleframe grille and sleek body lines—the second-generation A3 found universal acceptance. Available in multiple body styles including the three-door "Sportback" hatchback, a five-door variant, and notably, a warmly welcomed convertible cabriolet model, Audi broadened the A3 lineup to accommodate diverse driver and lifestyle preferences.

The Typ 8P era further distinguished itself through several engine variants, notably including the highly regarded 2.0-liter TFSI petrol power-plant and the frugal and robust 2.0-liter TDI diesel. Drivers particularly appreciated the refined driving dynamics, precise steering, and progressive evolution in cabin quality and luxury appointments, placing it consistently ahead of competing premium compact cars throughout the 2000s—especially in Australia, Europe, and North America regions alike. Premium touches extended to optional quattro all-wheel-drive variants, providing greater security, enhanced traction, and a genuinely sporty driving character revered among enthusiasts and everyday drivers.

Audi significantly refreshed the A3 in 2005 and again in 2008, with mild external tweaks, enhanced cabin refinement, improved driver assist technologies, and increased feature availability of in-dash infotainment options. By the conclusion of its lifecycle in 2012, the Typ 8P models had firmly solidified the Audi A3 as a compelling choice for those seeking premium compact luxury blended seamlessly with everyday practicality.

Today, owners of final Typ 8P models—and indeed earlier 8P variations as well—often consider modern technology integrations, eager to integrate contemporary tech features seamlessly into their trusted Audi A3.

    Integrating Today's Advanced Infotainment Solutions:
For second-generation Audi A3 owners seeking modern conveniences without compromising originality, refined aftermarket selections offer sophisticated infotainment solutions. Brummstadt stands prominently among these options, providing carefully crafted head units specifically tailored to blend neatly within the original cabin aesthetic of the Audi A3 Typ 8P.

With its elegant interface and physical design matching original dashboard contours, this head unit includes both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Compatibility extends across a wide range of smartphones and navigation applications: Apple Maps, Google Maps, and WAZE. Picture an evening spent dining with friends or family—at dinner's completion, a quick selection of the next destination on one's phone transforms smoothly onto the vehicle's infotainment display through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This naturally smooth integration ensures a relaxed and effortless transition to the next adventure, without confusion or complexity.

To support both comfort and assurance, the head unit can effortlessly integrate a high-resolution 1080p HD camera—offering dual front-and-rear views complete with recording capability. Such solutions provide an added layer of visual precision in tight parking spaces or crowded urban scenarios, alongside objective video evidence and increased peace of mind during journeys short and long.

Beyond conventional infotainment, Brummstadt’s premium head unit also supports enhanced entertainment options for passengers via integrated USB ports. Passenger gaming consoles connected easily through USB bring multiplayer entertainment directly into the vehicle’s cabin, transforming longer journeys into genuinely engaging experiences without sacrificing the elegance or style of the Audi A3 experience.

Moreover, smart voice control integration through Siri or Google Assistant efficiently manages essential media selections, navigation guidance, and wireless communication, while intelligent home controls—such as remotely commanding home devices—can transform simple vehicle hardware into a valuable hub for a connected lifestyle. A short voice command—such as "Hey Siri, switch on the porch lights"—illustrates how clever vehicle connectivity significantly simplifies convenience and practicality, seamlessly integrating everyday technology within an elegant aftermarket solution.

    Driving Enjoyment and Vehicle Advantages:
The second-generation Audi A3 models (Typ 8P) continue impressing drivers with balanced performance, timeless design, exemplary build quality, and premium driving enjoyment inherent to Audi’s expert engineering. Drivers consistently appreciate agile handling, robust yet efficient engines, comfortable yet concise driver positioning, and enduringly classic style aesthetics that rarely appear dated.

Assuredly, choosing to invest in modern infotainment solutions maintaining Audi’s renowned interior quality, owners bring contemporary practicality, convenience, safety enhancements, and luxury enhancements up to today's standards. Such thoughtful advancements extend the Audi A3's livability for continued daily use and long-distance adventures alike, breathing new life into an already adored and capable automobile.

Thus, in harmonious integration of past automotive excellence with present-day innovative technologies, Audi A3 Typ 8P drivers strikingly enjoy amplified driving pleasure, improved practical convenience, and strengthened emotional connections with their favored compact luxury vehicle.

“A car is not just a tool — it’s an experience waiting to happen.”
