Camera & Parking Setup

Install and configure the aftermarket 1080p 25Hz front camera using the steps below.

A) Hardware

  1. Route the camera harness from the front of the vehicle to the head unit.
  2. Connect the harness to the fifth white connector on the head-unit loom.

B) Software

  1. CarSettings > System Settings (Navigation Bar)
  2. Factory Settings (Password 1617)
  3. Feature Setting > select Double recording
  4. Save (top-right corner). The unit restarts to apply the change.
  5. App menu > Recorder > DVR
  6. Camera type > Front camera AHD 1080p 25Hz
  7. If you also fitted the matching reverse camera, choose the corresponding AHD 1080p 25Hz option.

After the restart, open the DVR app to confirm the front feed displays correctly.

Follow this checklist to mount and configure the aftermarket 1080p 25Hz rear camera.

A) Hardware

  1. Connect the yellow RCA lead to the head unit’s video input.
  2. Join the camera harness to the matching yellow RCA connector.
  3. Attach the opposite end of the harness to the camera’s yellow plug.
  4. Tap the red trigger wire into the reverse-light power feed.
  5. Secure the harness from the head unit to the rear of the vehicle.

B) Software

  1. CarSettings > System Settings (Navigation Bar)
  2. Factory Settings (Password 1617)
  3. Backcar Settings > select 1080p 25Hz
  4. If you are retaining the factory camera, confirm the CVBS format and choose the matching option.
  5. Save (top-right corner) to apply the change.

The head unit restarts automatically. Engage reverse to confirm video; if the feed is missing, re-check every connection.

Screen says No signal? Our video shows the camera format from the hold panel, the wiring checks and the other fixes: Watch the reverse camera video

If the rear camera image appears mirrored, adjust the reverse setting.

  1. CarSettings > General
  2. Toggle Reverse Mirror

The adjustment is applied immediately.

Check your factory camera first: a few run on about 6V, while our unit supplies 12V. A 6V camera needs a 12V to 6V step-down module in its power wire to keep working (we don't sell these, your installer can fit one), or you can fit our 1080p reverse camera instead, mounted at the back and wired to the unit. Not sure which camera you have? Message us with your model and year before connecting it. A 12V factory camera can reuse the factory wiring, so you keep the original rear camera.

A) Hardware

  1. Plug the supplied yellow RCA retention lead into the head unit.
  2. Connect the retention cable to the yellow RCA from the factory camera loom.
  3. Attach the remaining connector to the vehicle’s factory camera plug.

B) Software

  1. CarSettings > System Settings (Navigation Bar)
  2. Factory Settings (Password 1617)
  3. Backcar Settings > select the matching CVBS format (most vehicles use NTSC)
  4. Save (top-right corner) to apply the change

After saving, engage reverse to confirm the video feed. If nothing displays, re-check the retention harness and camera connectors.

Mitsubishi Triton models with and without a 360° camera use different harness layouts. Confirm the adapter configuration before applying power.

Double-check that all plugs are seated firmly so the head unit receives camera power and signal.

Audio, Radio & Antenna Hardware

Restore audio on vehicles equipped with a factory amplifier by confirming the trigger wiring and software configuration.

Hardware check

  • Verify the AMP-C trigger cable is connected so the amplifier powers on with the head unit. On CAN bus vehicles this trigger is usually controlled by the decoder.

Software (CAN bus models)

  1. MyCar > Settings > Other Settings > Function Select > Amplifier

Software (non-CAN bus or aftermarket amplifier)

  1. CarSettings > General Settings > select Amplify

Play a test track to confirm sound once the settings are stored.

DAB+ delivers digital radio with improved audio quality and more stations.

Antenna placement

  1. Apply the antenna to the passenger side of the windscreen as instructed.
  2. Route the cable to the rear of the head unit.
  3. Connect it to the six-pin USB plug (see page 32 of the user manual).

Software

  1. Open the Play Store
  2. Download and install the DAB-Z player

Mount the supplied antennas behind the dash so they remain hidden while maintaining signal quality.

Placement order (top to bottom)

  1. 5 GHz Wi-Fi antenna
  2. GPS antenna (stick it to plastic, not metal, to avoid interference)
  3. 4G antenna (SIM card aerial)

The DAB+ antenna connects to the six-pin USB plug on the harness.

Install the supplied radio booster if FM reception is weak or inconsistent.

Hardware

  1. Connect the vehicle’s male antenna plug to the booster.
  2. Connect the booster’s male plug to the head unit.
  3. Attach the blue 12 V wire to an ACC power source.

Additional settings

  1. CarSettings > System Settings (Navigation Bar)
  2. Factory Settings (Password 16176699)
  3. Radio Setting > adjust FM Sensitivity

Retune the radio to confirm the improvement.

If the retractable antenna does not raise when the radio is switched on, confirm the power feed.

  • Verify the power-antenna cable is connected to the ANT: Power lead (see page 31 of the user manual).

Enable the power-antenna output

  1. CarSettings > System Settings (Navigation Bar)
  2. Factory Settings (Password 16176699)
  3. Customized Settings > enable Radio antenna powered

The mast should extend immediately once the option is active.

Identify the fan plug before connecting the RCA harness to the head unit. Refer to the user manual (pages 31 and 32) for the illustrated routing.

Vehicle Integration & Wiring

Enable steering-wheel controls with the ignition switched to ON.

A) Non-CAN bus models

  1. All Apps > Steering Wheel Learning
  2. Press Start
  3. Follow the prompts, long-pressing each steering-wheel button when requested
  4. Press Finish to save

B) CAN bus models

The decoder is usually preconfigured. Verify the profile if any buttons are unresponsive:

  1. MyCar > Diagnosis > Car
  2. Select the CAN bus decoder name (printed on the module)
  3. Select the correct vehicle make and model

Ensure the decoder’s data cable is connected. If only a few buttons need remapping, adjust them in the MyCar app.

  1. MyCar > Settings > Door Window Settings
  2. Select FDoor exchange

The change applies immediately.

An OBD2 scanner lets you read diagnostic trouble codes, track mileage and run quick health checks without visiting a workshop. Keep one connected when troubleshooting warning lights.

Ford Ranger PX II and Mitsubishi Triton models use a split factory head unit. Unplug both the display and the main unit, then connect the adapter harness before powering on the system.

Ensure the plug carrying speaker power is transferred; the screen alone cannot power the new head unit.

Connectivity & Infotainment

Connect the head unit to the internet via Wi‑Fi hotspot or a dedicated SIM card.

Wi‑Fi hotspot (recommended)

  1. Android Settings > Network & Internet
  2. Connect to your phone’s hotspot

Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto use the unit's one Wi-Fi, so switch Bluetooth off on your phone before you join the hotspot, and switch it back on when you're done. Our video shows getting online and back: Watch the CarPlay and Android Auto video

SIM card options

  • Insert a data SIM directly into the head unit for stand-alone connectivity
  • Ask your carrier about a dual-SIM or twin-SIM plan so incoming calls ring on both the head unit and your phone
  • A data-only SIM works if voice calls are not required

Google Maps is pre-installed and works the same as on your phone.

Offline navigation

  1. Open Google Maps
  2. Select your profile icon
  3. Offline Maps
  4. Choose the region and download it

Change the default navigation app

  1. CarSettings > Navi Software Settings
  2. Navi Software Settings: Maps
  3. Select your preferred app (any installed app can be set as the default launcher)

Streaming apps such as YouTube work on the head unit. Only play video when you're safely parked.

Zlink5 manages both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Head-unit defaults

  1. Car Settings > Default Setting > select Car Play

Wireless pairing

  1. Ignition on, handbrake on. On your phone, switch Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on (on an iPhone, keep Siri on too)
  2. Open ZLINK on the unit, so it waits for your phone
  3. Open Bluetooth on your phone and pick your unit's name. If your phone asks for a code, use the one your unit shows
  4. Say yes when your phone asks to use CarPlay, and give it a few seconds. The unit then says Bluetooth has been turned off: that's normal, ZLINK has built its own Wi-Fi link
  5. Sits on Connecting? Switch Bluetooth off on your phone, then back on, and try again
  6. In ZLINK, tap the gear: Background Connection on connects your phone by itself every time you start, and Driver Position right puts the CarPlay bar on your side

Cable (USB) pairing

  1. Switch Bluetooth off on your phone, so the cable does the linking
  2. Use a data cable, not one that only charges: the cable from your phone's box, or one that says data or sync on the pack. Test it on a computer first: the phone shows up on the computer
  3. Plug the cable into your unit's USB lead, then into your phone, open ZLINK, and say yes if your phone asks to trust the unit
  4. It charges but CarPlay or Android Auto doesn't come up? Swap the cable first, then try the unit's other USB lead

Our video shows every step, two phones, getting online and back, and the quick fixes: Watch the CarPlay and Android Auto video

Tips

  • Disable battery-saver modes and clear old Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi pairings if connections drop
  • Older phones that do not support wireless CarPlay/Android Auto can still connect over USB

If callers find you hard to hear, raise the microphone gain. Do this while parked.

  1. CarSetting > System Settings (tab at the bottom right)
  2. Factory Setting (the same list also has Factory Reset, two rows higher: not that one) > Password 16176699 > Confirm
  3. Customized Setting > mic gain: set it to 7, the highest (some units also show bt mic gain: set it to 7 as well)
  4. If the list ends with External Mic, make sure it is ticked
  5. Save (top-right corner)

Gain Setting, further down the same list, is the volume of music and radio, not the microphone. The external microphone plugs into the lead labelled MIC on the harness.

The unit restarts to apply the change. Place a quick call to confirm the audio level.

Callers still say you sound far away? Our video shows where to fit the mic and every mic setting: Watch the mic video

Your unit updates itself online through the My Car app. Our step-by-step video shows the whole update, and the steps are written out on the same page.

Before you start, switch Bluetooth off on your phone: wireless CarPlay and Android Auto use the unit's Wi-Fi, so the unit can't use Wi-Fi for the internet while they're connected.
