Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this head unit
Connect the single RCA cable with the yellow plug (included in your package) to extend your Bluetooth signal. This cable doubles as both a camera input AND a Bluetooth/WiFi antenna extension. The two small blue wires attached are antenna boosters that significantly improve connection stability. This simple connection takes 30 seconds and resolves 90% of Bluetooth issues. Make sure it's firmly connected even if you're not using a rear camera.
Try these proven solutions:
1. Quick Fix: Settings → Apps → Z-Link → Disable → Enable → Open (repeat each use)
2. Check Cables: Use the data/charge USB cable (not charge-only)
3. Bluetooth Setting: Disconnect all other Bluetooth connections - CarPlay needs exclusive access
4. Factory Reset Z-Link: Find the pink 'RESET' app, restart, reconnect Bluetooth, then try Z-Link
5. Sound Issues: Switch audio source to 'AUX' or 'USB/AUX' in your vehicle menu
Most issues are resolved with step 1 or 3!
The processor differs between models: The 2/32GB has a 4-Core processor, while 4/64GB and 8/128GB models feature the powerful 8-Core Cortex-A55 processor. Combined with RAM differences: The 2/32GB model with its 4-Core processor and limited RAM may experience slowdowns with heavy multitasking. The 4/64GB with 8-Core provides smooth performance for most users - no lag, seamless app switching, and enough storage for maps and music. The 8/128GB with 8-Core offers maximum performance with its generous RAM allowing unlimited multitasking and massive storage for extensive media libraries. Think of RAM like your desk space - more RAM means you can have more apps open simultaneously without slowing down.
Absolutely normal! These head units are complete replacement systems with their own GPS antenna, microphone, and Bluetooth module. Your factory connectors for these features won't be needed anymore. The important connections are: main power harness, speaker outputs, and the yellow RCA cable (even if not using a camera - it extends Bluetooth range). Any leftover factory plugs can be safely tucked away. If you're unsure about any connection, our support team is here 7 days a week.
Z-Link updates are handled through system firmware updates. Go to Settings → System → System Update. If an update is available, download it to a USB drive (FAT32 format) and install. Important: Never download Z-Link APKs from unofficial sources - they won't work and may cause issues. If you're having compatibility issues with newer iOS versions, the disable/enable workaround (Settings → Apps → Z-Link) usually resolves them while waiting for official updates.
Consider your usage:
• 2/32GB (4-Core): Budget option - fine for basic use, but may lag with multiple apps due to 4-Core processor and limited RAM
• 4/64GB (8-Core): Sweet spot - smooth Android Auto/CarPlay, multitasking, and ample storage
• 8/128GB (8-Core): Premium choice - unlimited multitasking, massive storage, future-proof for years
Most customers choose 4/64GB for the perfect balance of performance and value. The extra RAM makes a huge difference in daily smoothness!
The yellow RCA cable's blue antenna wires also boost WiFi signal! Make sure this cable is connected. Additionally, try these tips: Position the blue antenna wires away from metal surfaces, check that your phone's hotspot is set to 2.4GHz (not 5GHz) for better range, and ensure the head unit's WiFi sleep policy is set to 'Never' in Settings → WiFi → Advanced. For best performance with wireless CarPlay, keep your phone within 1-2 meters of the head unit.
Go to Settings → Sound → Equalizer and adjust to your preference. For more volume, increase the 'Loudness' setting. The 4/64GB and 8/128GB models have superior audio chips that provide cleaner, louder sound. If you have an amplifier, use the RCA outputs for best quality. Also check Settings → Factory Settings (password usually 126) → Audio settings for additional gain controls. Remember: higher-spec models (4GB+) include premium audio components for noticeably better sound.

Historical Progression of Hyundai i45 (Sonata):
First Generation (1985–1987: Hyundai Sonata Y1):
Hyundai initiated the Sonata model as a refreshed, elongated version of their existing Stellar sedan. Aimed primarily at providing affordable transportation, the original Sonata concentrated its appeal on spacious interiors, dependable engineering, and practicality. Its balance of comfort and affordability set a strong future course for the nascent Sonata series, especially within its home Korean market.
Second Generation (1988–1993: Hyundai Sonata Y2):
By the late 1980s, Sonata significantly matured into an independent model, venturing visibly into export markets including North America, Australia, and Europe. Marked by sleeker styling, upgraded interior features, and an increased level of mechanical refinement, the second Sonata generation highlighted Hyundai's ambition to produce globally competitive sedans.
Third Generation (1993–1998: Hyundai Sonata Y3):
The third Sonata explored even further global popularity by emphasizing value-for-money with meaningful interior improvements, distinctive styling, and enhanced drivability. Its more refined performance and spacious cabin gained appreciation in international markets, further elevating the Sonata brand identity.
Fourth Generation (1998–2004: Hyundai Sonata EF):
With matured styling and manufacturing standards, Sonata EF presented superior interior build quality, comfort enhancements, and safety innovations. It proved popular yet practical worldwide—appealing to consumers seeking reliability and stylistic maturity, solidifying Sonata's dependable mid-size sedan reputation.
Fifth Generation (2004–2009: Hyundai Sonata NF):
In this generation, Hyundai balanced comfort, drivability and efficiency with refined engines, effectively competing against more established global market rivals. Praised for stronger engine performance, added cabin serenity, refined elegance, and comprehensive safety package, Sonata NF laid groundwork for modernizing perceptions of its once conservative product lineage.
Sixth Generation (2009–2014: Hyundai Sonata YF / Hyundai i45 in Australia & New Zealand):
Launching the YF generation signaled major shifts by embracing Hyundai’s “Fluidic Sculpture” design language, yielding swooping curves and appealing visual aesthetic—a substantial departure from previous conservatism. In Australia and New Zealand, Hyundai rebranded the Sonata YF as the "Hyundai i45," signifying a notable repositioning toward a younger demographic seeking contemporary design and elevated sophistication.
Characterized by distinctive styling details, the Hyundai i45 showcased a harmonious alignment of flowing contours that enhanced aerodynamic efficiency. Leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, electric-adjustable seats, keyless entry, and push-button start significantly contributed toward enhancing the interior environment. The inclusion of safety features such as stability control, multiple airbags, and advanced crash engineering led to recognition as a reliable option focusing equally on passenger protection and driving enjoyment.
This particular i45 model offered a choice between a responsive and economical 2.0-litre engine or a balanced, powerful 2.4-litre petrol variant, both providing sufficient performance suitable for everyday driving and highway cruising alike. Its refined suspension tuning balanced comfortably softened ride characteristics with controlled cornering dynamics, thereby reinforcing its appeal as an enjoyable family vehicle.
Audio and navigation technology available in the factory original Hyundai i45 offered commendable ease of use upon initial release; however, contemporary multimedia expectations have evolved considerably. To better meet present-day user preferences for streamlined connectivity and multi-functional infotainment, aftermarket solutions designed specifically for the Hyundai i45 present meaningful technological modernity.
Among these solutions, Brummstadt provides a dedicated Premium Head Unit upgrade that integrates purposefully within the i45 dashboard architecture. Users experience intuitive interaction and advanced integration, accessing their favorite navigation applications seamlessly—whether Google Maps, Apple Maps, or WAZE—via direct synchronization from their smartphones to the clearly displayed touchscreen.
The practical utility stands out when imagined through relatable day-to-day situations. Consider enjoying a meal out with close friends or family—when departing, a pre-selected destination set via smartphone automatically projects navigation directly to the car display via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Without manual intervention, passengers experience stress-minimized navigation throughout city or suburban streets, creating effortless and relaxed travel.
Additionally, optional camera upgrades provide 1080p HD front and rear recording capabilities, capturing driving footage to bolster vehicle security, maneuvering vision, and providing valuable documentation if needed. Innovative additions extend even into passenger entertainment: passengers in transit utilize gaming controllers connected via USB input ports, allowing multiplayer gaming directly displayed on-screen as the cabin transforms intermittently into an enjoyable social hub.
Furthermore, compatibility with smart voice assistants like Siri or Google Assistant meaningfully simplifies cabin operations. Driver commands to place calls, select media, or even remotely manage connected home devices—like activating driveway or porch lighting while driving towards home—demonstrate adaptive synergy between automotive—and home-based—connectivity. Voice-controlled interaction elevates safety, convenience, and meaningful technological versatility.
