Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this head unit
Connect the single RCA cable with the yellow plug (included in your package) to extend your Bluetooth signal. This cable doubles as both a camera input AND a Bluetooth/WiFi antenna extension. The two small blue wires attached are antenna boosters that significantly improve connection stability. This simple connection takes 30 seconds and resolves 90% of Bluetooth issues. Make sure it's firmly connected even if you're not using a rear camera.
Try these proven solutions:
1. Quick Fix: Settings → Apps → Z-Link → Disable → Enable → Open (repeat each use)
2. Check Cables: Use the data/charge USB cable (not charge-only)
3. Bluetooth Setting: Disconnect all other Bluetooth connections - CarPlay needs exclusive access
4. Factory Reset Z-Link: Find the pink 'RESET' app, restart, reconnect Bluetooth, then try Z-Link
5. Sound Issues: Switch audio source to 'AUX' or 'USB/AUX' in your vehicle menu
Most issues are resolved with step 1 or 3!
The processor differs between models: The 2/32GB has a 4-Core processor, while 4/64GB and 8/128GB models feature the powerful 8-Core Cortex-A55 processor. Combined with RAM differences: The 2/32GB model with its 4-Core processor and limited RAM may experience slowdowns with heavy multitasking. The 4/64GB with 8-Core provides smooth performance for most users - no lag, seamless app switching, and enough storage for maps and music. The 8/128GB with 8-Core offers maximum performance with its generous RAM allowing unlimited multitasking and massive storage for extensive media libraries. Think of RAM like your desk space - more RAM means you can have more apps open simultaneously without slowing down.
Absolutely normal! These head units are complete replacement systems with their own GPS antenna, microphone, and Bluetooth module. Your factory connectors for these features won't be needed anymore. The important connections are: main power harness, speaker outputs, and the yellow RCA cable (even if not using a camera - it extends Bluetooth range). Any leftover factory plugs can be safely tucked away. If you're unsure about any connection, our support team is here 7 days a week.
Z-Link updates are handled through system firmware updates. Go to Settings → System → System Update. If an update is available, download it to a USB drive (FAT32 format) and install. Important: Never download Z-Link APKs from unofficial sources - they won't work and may cause issues. If you're having compatibility issues with newer iOS versions, the disable/enable workaround (Settings → Apps → Z-Link) usually resolves them while waiting for official updates.
Consider your usage:
• 2/32GB (4-Core): Budget option - fine for basic use, but may lag with multiple apps due to 4-Core processor and limited RAM
• 4/64GB (8-Core): Sweet spot - smooth Android Auto/CarPlay, multitasking, and ample storage
• 8/128GB (8-Core): Premium choice - unlimited multitasking, massive storage, future-proof for years
Most customers choose 4/64GB for the perfect balance of performance and value. The extra RAM makes a huge difference in daily smoothness!
The yellow RCA cable's blue antenna wires also boost WiFi signal! Make sure this cable is connected. Additionally, try these tips: Position the blue antenna wires away from metal surfaces, check that your phone's hotspot is set to 2.4GHz (not 5GHz) for better range, and ensure the head unit's WiFi sleep policy is set to 'Never' in Settings → WiFi → Advanced. For best performance with wireless CarPlay, keep your phone within 1-2 meters of the head unit.
Go to Settings → Sound → Equalizer and adjust to your preference. For more volume, increase the 'Loudness' setting. The 4/64GB and 8/128GB models have superior audio chips that provide cleaner, louder sound. If you have an amplifier, use the RCA outputs for best quality. Also check Settings → Factory Settings (password usually 126) → Audio settings for additional gain controls. Remember: higher-spec models (4GB+) include premium audio components for noticeably better sound.

Hyundai i20's Evolution and Global Appeal:
First Generation: PB Series (2008-2014)
The Hyundai i20 was first introduced in 2008 at the Paris Motor Show, following the success of the smaller Hyundai Getz as the brand's subcompact offering in Europe and global markets. The PB generation marked Hyundai’s serious intent to connect with younger, urban customers seeking dependable yet stylish transportation. Available as both a three-door and five-door hatchback, the first-generation i20 was built in Hyundai’s factories in India and Turkey, guiding the model’s expansive popularity across Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Powered initially by efficient petrol and diesel engines, the earliest i20 models quickly gained notice for their responsive drive dynamics, strong fuel economy, and surprising practical roominess despite compact exterior dimensions. The practicality and affordability offered by the first generation helped Hyundai establish a solid footing within the European market segment traditionally dominated by established brands from Japan and Europe.
Facelift: Hyundai i20 PB (2012-2015)
Mid-cycle, Hyundai introduced a significant facelift to the i20, refining its presence and appeal further. This iteration (2012-2015) showcased visibly refined aesthetics, more cohesive exterior updates, including refreshed headlights, grille and bumpers, as well as notable adjustments to interior design and comfort. Improved interior textures, practical storage solutions, a user-friendly dashboard, and available upgraded infotainment demonstrated Hyundai's continued push toward global quality standards.
One warmly received aspect was the driving comfort: Suspension tuning was adjusted for a more balanced ride, reducing road noise and enhancing cabin refinement, thus providing a quieter and more pleasant travel experience for occupants. Engine updates also kept emissions lower, enabling comfortable city commuting while meeting increasingly strict environmental guidelines across Europe and Asia.
International Naming and Popularity:
Interestingly, the PB generation Hyundai i20 maintained its model name consistency globally—the branding remained uniform throughout markets including Australia, Europe, India, and the Asia-Pacific region. This consistency reflected Hyundai's international confidence and coherent design language that translated smoothly across diverse customer preferences worldwide, positioning itself as a global contemporary hatchback without naming complexities or variations.
Upgrade Options and Advanced Connectivity:
For the 2012-2015 PB series Hyundai i20, modern drivers often pursue specific quality automotive accessories that complement the vehicle’s practical essence by aligning in-car entertainment and connectivity with the latest standards. An example of a meaningful, high-value integration is evidenced in Brummstadt's head unit upgrade kits, designed thoughtfully to match vehicles from the PB i20 generation with up-to-date infotainment technology and smartphone connectivity.
Recognising contemporary drivers' desire for improved connectivity and multimedia options, a carefully designed premium head unit compatible with this Hyundai i20 generation brings a compelling infotainment platform inside the vehicle. Notably, the purchased head units integrate wireless and wired solutions for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, thus providing straightforward connection support for multiple smartphone platforms and devices. Applications especially popular among users, including Google Maps, Waze, and Apple Maps, readily display on the easily navigable touchscreen interface.
For instance, consider a typical scenario: After enjoying a quiet dinner with family members, a destination entered into a smartphone beforehand effortlessly transfers to the infotainment display upon starting the vehicle. Seamlessly integrating mobile navigation apps into the central display encourages relaxed driving transitions between locations, allowing travellers to enjoy shared experiences without worry or hassle navigating through uncertain areas or evening traffic.
Expanded Features and Personal Options:
Further augmenting safety and comfort, these upgraded systems can optionally integrate a premium 1080p HD camera system capturing critical visual details from both front and rear perspectives. This addition provides practical assurance and safety considerations, documenting driving events effectively, assisting in parking situations, and supplying valuable evidence if required.
In-car entertainment also receives an engaging upgrade. Gaming controllers connecting via rear-access USB ports notably expand passenger engagement, enabling occupants to partake in friendly multiplayer games viewed on the head unit’s wide high-resolution display—turning traditionally mundane trips into enjoyable experiences particularly suited to long journeys and family trips.
Equipped with intelligent voice control functionality, this premium infotainment system caters to modern driving needs, allowing easy hands-free management of navigation prompts, incoming calls or messages, and seamless multimedia control. Integration extends beyond merely vehicle-centric tasks: voice assistants such as Siri and Google Assistant communicate easily with available home smart technologies, enabling thoughtful commands like activating home porch or driveway lights directly from the comfort of the vehicle, enhancing driver confidence and overall convenience effectively.
Hyundai i20 PB Generation: Advantages and Driving Appreciation:
Throughout the first-generation lifecycle—including its notable facelift period of 2012 to 2015—the Hyundai i20 embodied practicality, economy, comfort, and stylish simplicity. Its modest dimensions, thoughtful use of available space, refined driving experience, and commendable efficiency appeal effectively to drivers purely from practical standpoints. Its evolution further reinforced this appeal through consistent quality improvements and contemporary design updates that kept the model fresh and relevant to global customers.
By considering advanced infotainment and thoughtfully tailored accessories from respected suppliers such as Brummstadt, owners notably extend their vehicle’s functional comfort, connectivity options, and family engagement potential. Sophisticated navigation support, convenient smartphone integration, added safety from optional cameras, entertaining passenger gaming, and practical voice control abilities offer a meaningful addition to driving convenience and pleasure.
