Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this head unit
Connect the single RCA cable with the yellow plug (included in your package) to extend your Bluetooth signal. This cable doubles as both a camera input AND a Bluetooth/WiFi antenna extension. The two small blue wires attached are antenna boosters that significantly improve connection stability. This simple connection takes 30 seconds and resolves 90% of Bluetooth issues. Make sure it's firmly connected even if you're not using a rear camera.
Try these proven solutions:
1. Quick Fix: Settings → Apps → Z-Link → Disable → Enable → Open (repeat each use)
2. Check Cables: Use the data/charge USB cable (not charge-only)
3. Bluetooth Setting: Disconnect all other Bluetooth connections - CarPlay needs exclusive access
4. Factory Reset Z-Link: Find the pink 'RESET' app, restart, reconnect Bluetooth, then try Z-Link
5. Sound Issues: Switch audio source to 'AUX' or 'USB/AUX' in your vehicle menu
Most issues are resolved with step 1 or 3!
The processor differs between models: The 2/32GB has a 4-Core processor, while 4/64GB and 8/128GB models feature the powerful 8-Core Cortex-A55 processor. Combined with RAM differences: The 2/32GB model with its 4-Core processor and limited RAM may experience slowdowns with heavy multitasking. The 4/64GB with 8-Core provides smooth performance for most users - no lag, seamless app switching, and enough storage for maps and music. The 8/128GB with 8-Core offers maximum performance with its generous RAM allowing unlimited multitasking and massive storage for extensive media libraries. Think of RAM like your desk space - more RAM means you can have more apps open simultaneously without slowing down.
Absolutely normal! These head units are complete replacement systems with their own GPS antenna, microphone, and Bluetooth module. Your factory connectors for these features won't be needed anymore. The important connections are: main power harness, speaker outputs, and the yellow RCA cable (even if not using a camera - it extends Bluetooth range). Any leftover factory plugs can be safely tucked away. If you're unsure about any connection, our support team is here 7 days a week.
Z-Link updates are handled through system firmware updates. Go to Settings → System → System Update. If an update is available, download it to a USB drive (FAT32 format) and install. Important: Never download Z-Link APKs from unofficial sources - they won't work and may cause issues. If you're having compatibility issues with newer iOS versions, the disable/enable workaround (Settings → Apps → Z-Link) usually resolves them while waiting for official updates.
Consider your usage:
• 2/32GB (4-Core): Budget option - fine for basic use, but may lag with multiple apps due to 4-Core processor and limited RAM
• 4/64GB (8-Core): Sweet spot - smooth Android Auto/CarPlay, multitasking, and ample storage
• 8/128GB (8-Core): Premium choice - unlimited multitasking, massive storage, future-proof for years
Most customers choose 4/64GB for the perfect balance of performance and value. The extra RAM makes a huge difference in daily smoothness!
The yellow RCA cable's blue antenna wires also boost WiFi signal! Make sure this cable is connected. Additionally, try these tips: Position the blue antenna wires away from metal surfaces, check that your phone's hotspot is set to 2.4GHz (not 5GHz) for better range, and ensure the head unit's WiFi sleep policy is set to 'Never' in Settings → WiFi → Advanced. For best performance with wireless CarPlay, keep your phone within 1-2 meters of the head unit.
Go to Settings → Sound → Equalizer and adjust to your preference. For more volume, increase the 'Loudness' setting. The 4/64GB and 8/128GB models have superior audio chips that provide cleaner, louder sound. If you have an amplifier, use the RCA outputs for best quality. Also check Settings → Factory Settings (password usually 126) → Audio settings for additional gain controls. Remember: higher-spec models (4GB+) include premium audio components for noticeably better sound.

First Generation (XP10; 1999–2005):
Initially introduced in Japan as the Toyota Vitz and shortly thereafter in Europe as the Yaris, this small vehicle swiftly gained attention for thoughtfully balancing compact dimensions with surprising interior spaciousness. Designed for efficiency and maneuverability, the first-generation's accessible handling, fuel-efficient petrol engines, and practical interior design earned it widespread appreciation. In Australia and North America, the sedan variant carried the "Echo" badge, establishing a popular following among budget-conscious drivers who valued economical running costs without compromising quality.
Second Generation (XP90; 2005–2011):
Continuing the legacy, the second-generation Yaris (and Vitz) featured notable enhancements in space utilization, interior craftsmanship, and overall refinement. With options extended to offer both hatchback and sedan body styles, this generation introduced advanced safety enhancements, an updated platform for improved ride quality, and new powertrain selections, reinforcing the Yaris' market reputation as a compact yet highly versatile choice.
Third Generation (XP130; 2011–2019):
Debuting internationally around 2011, this era marked significant maturity for the Yaris series. Embracing more dynamic styling cues and noticeably improved cabin materials, this iteration placed a greater emphasis on driver comfort, safety, and convenience technologies. Notably, the 2016–2020 facelifted model stands out, recognized for modernized external aesthetics, heightened acoustic insulation, increased structural rigidity, advanced safety packages—including Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure Alerts—and a full multimedia system upgrade designed to meet emerging connectivity demands.
Fourth Generation (XP210; from late 2019 onward in select regions):
The latest generation represented a substantial leap in the Yaris’s evolution. Built atop Toyota's modular TNGA platform, it became lighter, more rigid, and dynamically engaging. Not only boosting its efficiency, safety benchmarks, and sporty behavior, but it also achieved notable acclaim, winning international awards for its innovative hybrid powertrains and quality interior refinement.
Enhancing Connectivity and Comfort with Toyota Yaris (2016–2020):
Despite the overall competence of the facelifted XP130 series, advancing technology paved the way for significant improvements in multimedia capability to satisfy modern preferences comfortably. Brummstadt, known for tailored, thoughtful automotive infotainment solutions, provides a premium head unit as a thoughtfully selected integration into the 2016–2020 Toyota Yaris interior, complementing the factory dashboard and central console. Featuring robust compatibility with modern mobile device technologies and applications, this system introduces Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available via both wired and wireless connectivity methods, directly onto a vivid, responsive capacitive touchscreen designed to naturally align with existing interior aesthetics.
Seamlessly connecting the mobile phone interface, drivers benefit from familiar and trusted navigation apps such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, and WAZE automatically mirrored within the barrier-free user interface. Consider an evening scenario: family and friends are enjoying dinner out and decide spontaneously to visit another friend's residence afterward. The destination is effortlessly set within the smartphone navigation app, automatically transitioning seamlessly to the head unit's wider interface upon ignition. The stress and inconvenience—frequently encountered when manually typing addresses or attempting phone screen navigation—are replaced by a smooth transition supporting ease, safety, and confidence even in new or busy traffic conditions.
Additionally, this head unit offers optional additions that amplify safety and usability features further, with a provision for front and rear 1080p HD cameras integrated discretely into the Yaris's aesthetic. Recording capability ensures peace of mind, evidential clarity if required, and improved visibility dramatically in maneuvering or confined urban parking situations.
Brummstadt’s cleverly designed infotainment packages extend well beyond simple navigation assistance and multimedia improvement. Rear-seat passengers, especially children or younger occupants, find passenger entertainment during journeys greatly expanded. The system supports direct joystick or controller integration through available USB interfaces, transforming the central infotainment screen into an accessible gaming center ideal for long-distance exploration or occasional traffic delays.
Smart voice control opens significant convenience benefits through integration with voice assistants including Siri and Google Assistant. Handling calls, managing music selections, or navigation directions is exceedingly natural and distraction minimizing. Moreover, thoughtful integration even extends beyond driving scenarios—voice assistance allows management of networked home smart devices. An owner driving home at night can comfortably command home-connected accessories, such as lighting systems or garage doors, remotely with a simple voice prompt, ensuring arrival occurs into a safely prepared and hospitable environment without unnecessary distraction or inconvenience.
