Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this head unit
Connect the single RCA cable with the yellow plug (included in your package) to extend your Bluetooth signal. This cable doubles as both a camera input AND a Bluetooth/WiFi antenna extension. The two small blue wires attached are antenna boosters that significantly improve connection stability. This simple connection takes 30 seconds and resolves 90% of Bluetooth issues. Make sure it's firmly connected even if you're not using a rear camera.
Try these proven solutions:
1. Quick Fix: Settings → Apps → Z-Link → Disable → Enable → Open (repeat each use)
2. Check Cables: Use the data/charge USB cable (not charge-only)
3. Bluetooth Setting: Disconnect all other Bluetooth connections - CarPlay needs exclusive access
4. Factory Reset Z-Link: Find the pink 'RESET' app, restart, reconnect Bluetooth, then try Z-Link
5. Sound Issues: Switch audio source to 'AUX' or 'USB/AUX' in your vehicle menu
Most issues are resolved with step 1 or 3!
The processor differs between models: The 2/32GB has a 4-Core processor, while 4/64GB and 8/128GB models feature the powerful 8-Core Cortex-A55 processor. Combined with RAM differences: The 2/32GB model with its 4-Core processor and limited RAM may experience slowdowns with heavy multitasking. The 4/64GB with 8-Core provides smooth performance for most users - no lag, seamless app switching, and enough storage for maps and music. The 8/128GB with 8-Core offers maximum performance with its generous RAM allowing unlimited multitasking and massive storage for extensive media libraries. Think of RAM like your desk space - more RAM means you can have more apps open simultaneously without slowing down.
Absolutely normal! These head units are complete replacement systems with their own GPS antenna, microphone, and Bluetooth module. Your factory connectors for these features won't be needed anymore. The important connections are: main power harness, speaker outputs, and the yellow RCA cable (even if not using a camera - it extends Bluetooth range). Any leftover factory plugs can be safely tucked away. If you're unsure about any connection, our support team is here 7 days a week.
Z-Link updates are handled through system firmware updates. Go to Settings → System → System Update. If an update is available, download it to a USB drive (FAT32 format) and install. Important: Never download Z-Link APKs from unofficial sources - they won't work and may cause issues. If you're having compatibility issues with newer iOS versions, the disable/enable workaround (Settings → Apps → Z-Link) usually resolves them while waiting for official updates.
Consider your usage:
• 2/32GB (4-Core): Budget option - fine for basic use, but may lag with multiple apps due to 4-Core processor and limited RAM
• 4/64GB (8-Core): Sweet spot - smooth Android Auto/CarPlay, multitasking, and ample storage
• 8/128GB (8-Core): Premium choice - unlimited multitasking, massive storage, future-proof for years
Most customers choose 4/64GB for the perfect balance of performance and value. The extra RAM makes a huge difference in daily smoothness!
The yellow RCA cable's blue antenna wires also boost WiFi signal! Make sure this cable is connected. Additionally, try these tips: Position the blue antenna wires away from metal surfaces, check that your phone's hotspot is set to 2.4GHz (not 5GHz) for better range, and ensure the head unit's WiFi sleep policy is set to 'Never' in Settings → WiFi → Advanced. For best performance with wireless CarPlay, keep your phone within 1-2 meters of the head unit.
Go to Settings → Sound → Equalizer and adjust to your preference. For more volume, increase the 'Loudness' setting. The 4/64GB and 8/128GB models have superior audio chips that provide cleaner, louder sound. If you have an amplifier, use the RCA outputs for best quality. Also check Settings → Factory Settings (password usually 126) → Audio settings for additional gain controls. Remember: higher-spec models (4GB+) include premium audio components for noticeably better sound.

The Nissan Altima’s Historic Path to Excellence:
First Generation – U13 (1993-1997):
Initial offerings of the Altima began as compact, efficient sedans, focusing largely on practicality and dependability. Early versions, powered by efficient 4-cylinder engines, carved their reputation based on straightforward reliability and impressive economy. These fundamental attributes earned them broad consumer respect as affordable family transportation across North America.
Second Generation – L30 (1998-2001):
Progressing naturally, the second-generation further solidified the Altima’s reputation for rugged dependability, introducing improved refinement, enhanced cabin comfort, and additional convenience features. With incremental styling enhancements and improved material quality, the Altima further appealed to drivers seeking a dependable and affordable commuting solution without sacrificing a touch of class.
Third Generation – L31 (2002–2006):
This generation represented significant upgrades in size and character, shifting the Altima into the mid-size class while introducing a potent 3.5-liter V6 engine option. Drivers praised the L31’s energetic engine options, spacious interiors, and a reputation of reliability, making considerable strides in the increasingly competitive midsize family-sedan segment.
Fourth Generation – L32 (2007–2012):
During these years, Nissan sharpened Altima’s styling, increased the level of standard luxury amenities, and introduced available advanced technologies like keyless entry, push-button start, improved navigation systems, and advanced entertainment options. A popular continuously variable transmission (CVT) option improved fuel efficiency, smoother riding characteristics, and responsive, seamless acceleration.
Fifth Generation – L33 (2013-2018):
The Altima L33 series remains notable thanks to Nissan’s deliberate advances in design, efficiency, comfort, and technology. With modernized styling, refined cabin spaces, and improved fuel economy propelled by updated powertrains and continuously variable transmissions, this iteration earned consistent praise for economic engine operation, quietness, and generous passenger room. Available advanced driver assistance technologies, such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warnings, and forward collision alerts, made the 2013-2018 Altima an attractive choice in its category. Internationally, many markets promoted the Nissan Teana as the platform sibling—offering premium features similarly praised in global markets for refined comfort and quiet elegance.
The Nissan Altima L33 offered balanced driving dynamics capable of comfortably negotiating urban environments and long highway commutes. Owners frequently enjoyed the rewards of a tuned suspension that delivered confident control without sacrificing balanced comfort and composed handling. Efficient, powerful engines delivered confident passing performance without compromising market-leading fuel economy—an important strength during a period of fluctuating fuel prices and consumer priorities toward efficiency.
Thoughtful Technology Integration with Brummstadt’s Premium Infotainment Upgrade:
The Altima’s factory infotainment system in this generation, while functional, might not encompass certain advanced integrations expected by modern drivers. For drivers seeking these modern technologies, the Brummstadt Premium Head Unit serves as a technology-rich alternative. Specifically compatible with the Nissan Altima L33 (2013-2018), this aftermarket solution neatly fits within the original interior contours, preserving aesthetic harmony while providing significant technological improvement.
Crucially, the unit offers wired and wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, meaning that smartphone-driven navigation is straightforward and effortless. Popular navigation tools such as Google Maps, WAZE, and Apple Maps route seamlessly through the residents’ phones into the generously sized and responsive touchscreen display—perfectly streamlining scenarios such as finishing a delightful dinner at a restaurant and effortlessly transitioning into driving directions set earlier via a phone before beginning the drive. The previously entered route simply shifts to the infotainment display within a moment, allowing drivers and passengers to calmly and smoothly navigate unfamiliar locations or unexpected road conditions.
Additional advanced options supported by this head unit include dual (front and rear) high-definition 1080p recording cameras. Installed discreetly, these cameras present instantaneous visibility improvements and provide invaluable evidence—documenting driving conditions, traffic incidents, or parking security scenarios. For family travels and evening commutes, the system even allows gaming controllers connected via USB, offering passengers enjoyable multiplayer games displayed directly on the infotainment screen, creating memorable experiences particularly appreciated on longer journeys.
Smart voice capabilities further extend everyday convenience substantially. Supporting both Apple’s Siri and Google’s Assistant ecosystems enables drivers to intuitively request routes, select media, make or respond to calls or messages, or even conveniently communicate with home-connected smart technology products. For instance, while returning home in the late evening hours, the driver can safely utilize voice commands like: “Hey Siri, turn on the porch lights,” preparing their surroundings comfortably and securely as they approach.
The advantages of this head unit naturally complement already strong practicalities showcased within the Altima, allowing owners expanded usability, contemporary connectivity, and meaningful daily convenience. Careful integration and familiarity ensure owners receive beneficial, relevant function and ease of use that reflect user needs and preferences enabled by modern, intuitive technology.
